On Sunday evening, 25 June 2017, Ambassador Paweł Milewski hosted a farewell reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to mark the end of his mission. The major highlight of the event was a guest performance by a Sydney based theatre group “Fantazja”, with an adaptation of Sławomir Mrozek's play "Serenada" directed by Marta Kieć-Gubała.
- The event, attended by over 130 representatives of the Polish community in Canberra, was held in the Tadeusz Kościuszko reception hall. In his welcome address Ambassador Paweł Milewski summarised the key accomplishments of his 4-year mission. He highlighted the enhancement of senior political dialogue, a substantial number of bilateral visits since 2013, dynamic trade increase, the development of cooperation between Polish and Australian research centers, as well as commemorative events celebrating historic anniversaries, including the Warsaw Uprising, the arrival of the first Polish settlers to Australia and Tadeusz Kosciuszko's death. Ambassador Milewski expressed his gratitude to the local Polish community in Australia for their support in carrying out his diplomatic mission which coincides with the 45th anniversary of the establishment of official diplomatic relations between Poland and Australia.
